On 25th September 2013, Cottingham High School, Hull, became the host for Webanywhere’s latest Nurturing Online Learning event. The event was split into two sessions: the first, Meeting Ofsted Requirements for School Websites, and the second, Integrating e-Learning into Everyday Teaching.

Webanywhere’s guest speaker Tracy Gentle, a former teacher and e-learning expert provided talks for both of these sessions. Tracy covered topics including a guide to Ofsted/DfE requirements and getting the most from your website. This provided teachers with bitesized knowledge from a teacher’s perspective.

Each session also included a case study from a local primary school and VLE tips and hints.

The event went down a treat with positive feedback from those who attended. Sophie Brown from St. Martins C of E Primary School said that:

“It was all very useful as I have only just taken on the role of ICT co-ordinator. It was particularly useful having teachers from other schools there sharing how they use the learning platform.”

It also gave teachers a chance to network with other teachers in the area, as well as getting answers to all of the questions that they had.

“It provided an opportunity to network and learn about the VLE.” said Kay O’Neill, St Anne’s Community Special School.
